You may have found ways over the years to reduce your anxiety but the shyness and avoidance tendencies remained.  So in reality you feel like you have not made any progress.  In essence, you are dealing with three separate entities – shyness, anxiety and behaviours and each needs its own management system.  The confidence that comes from managing all three creates its own momentum but until that point, it feels like you are taking 3 steps forward and 5 back.  If we look at them in turn we can see they come from different points in the body – anxiety is the body’s response to a stress trigger, shyness is really about how you feel about yourself and being in the company of others and the avoidance techniques are automatic responses that the subconscious mind feels are for your benefit. 

The power control for shyness and avoidance behaviours is in the subconscious mind and it makes sense that the subconscious mind must be used to make these changes lifelong.  You know that being logical makes no difference long-term because the root of the problem is in the subconscious mind.  So how do you access the subconscious – through hypnosis.  Hypnosis is a concentrated relaxation (the concentration is the change you want to make). 

In our waking state, the beta state, the conscious mind is on guard, filtering, hearing and seeing what it wants to see and hear and disregarding anything else.  As the body relaxes you move into the alpha state which is a consciousness of what is going (rather than the conscious part of the mind) – you can go through the memories and feelings attached to past events and review them in an objective sense and with your adult’s self now determine whether they warrant the control that you have allowed them to have.  You are removing the emotional attachment from these memories.  As you move into theta, the creative part, the imaginative part of the brain waves, you can see how you want to be now, how you would feel not being social anxious, the positive difference it would make to your life.  Also you are aware of any fear of changing that is present and analyze this fear’s concerns.  Then with delta these changes are being absorbed into the deep recesses of the subconscious mind.  You have to bring all the sense into play, you have to make it real.  The subconscious mind does not know the difference between what is real or imagined so this is used for you to rehearse how you want things to be – a comfortable you, feeling relaxed in company.  In this way, we are changing the avoidance behaviours.  Accepting yourself for as you are and knowing that you are entitled to take up space on this world and be counted.  Making the improvements you need to make, being less self conscious and embracing life.  But you have to want to change, you have to make the decision to embrace change so that you can be relaxed in the company of others, no matter what goes on.  It doesn’t matter what anyone says or does to you, it is only your response that gives it worth.

Teenage anxiety help is most effective when it comes from within. Teenagers may feel isolated and this is a very difficult state that affects mood, can lead to depression, panic or even phobia. Self-hypnosis is the ideal approach to guide teens with the support they need.

How To Overcome Fear of Swimming

There are very few people who do not like watching the natural movements of the ocean. It is a vista which is always moving and ever changing, presenting to the viewer an amazing cacophony of colors. Blues, greens, turquoise and grey all mix and blend together in this wonderful body of endless and seamless motion. Sometimes that water shines and sparkles and almost seems to dance before your eyes. It is brilliant, amazing and awe inspiring.

The sights and sounds of the ocean can stir up a lot of different emotions. It can induce a sensation of peace and tranquility sometimes and yet equally the ocean has the power to uncover sensations of restlessness and fury. The water moves and changes and presents many different faces to us, some of which may be sensual and others which may be daunting or forbidding. The ocean could be seen as a prison by some or a delicious freedom by others. But to some people, water induces a huge and instinctive sensation of fear and anxiety.

Water simply doesn’t stay still and static. If you have ever watched a droplet of water as it balances upon a leaf you will know that eventually it will cause the leaf to bend beneath its weight. It’s on the move, again. This perhaps is one reason which underlies a fear of water or fear of swimming; water just doesn’t stay still. In this sense it is unpredictable.

Another reason perhaps is the all enveloping power of a body of water; it can seem so strong and make a human being by contrast feel weak and vulnerable. Some people have simply had a bad experience in water, or their fear may be less about the water and more about sinking or being unable to breathe.

Swimming pools of course are no way near as daunting as a natural and unpredictable expanse of ocean. You know exactly where the bottom lies and what it is made of; you can even see all of the way to the bottom. You can touch the bottom with you feet, whilst keeping your head above the surface. You also know that the human body has a natural tendency to float.

But all of this does little to sooth the emotions which instinctively surface in the person who is afraid of water or afraid of swimming. We all know that we should have a healthy respect for water, but we equally know that there is no need to be fearful of water in a swimming pool. There are no rough waves or dangerous currents and no surprising changes of depth.

This type of fear anxiety is therefore known to be illogical and also extremely annoying and frustrating. Something, somewhere in the back of your mind must be creating this “miss-cue” of emotional response. Hypnosis is very handy in helping one to overcome their fear of water and to gain swimming confidence as it provides access to the inner workings of the mind. A little bit of rewiring, with the help of hypnosis, and you will find that more comfortable emotions will be triggered and your fear of swimming will be overcome.

Hypnosis For Fear Of Public Speaking – Can It Help You To Overcome Your Nerves?

It’s said that people fear public speaking more than they worry about death. And whilst that’s probably being a bit extremist, there is a grain of truth in the statement. One way that is often suggested as a method to overcome the worry is to use hypnosis for fear of public speaking. So, the question that remains is: does it work?

Deep down, most of us know that our fears aren’t totally rational. They’re often something we develop when we’re younger and then, through habit as much as anything else, we keep hold of them as we grow older.

Although that’s not always the case with public speaking as you’ll know if you’ve ever tried to calm down a group of children.

So how does using hypnosis to overcome your fear of public speaking work?

The hypnosis session will usually work on a number of levels.

Can You Overcome Your Fear of Germs?

Fears come in all shapes and sizes. And the things we’re afraid of vary in size as well. The fear of germs is one the more awkward fears to have. After all, germs are pretty much everywhere.

Taken to its extreme, the fear of germs can take over your life – it was one of the things that turned the late Howard Hughes into a recluse. If you’ve seen the movie The Aviator, you’ll have seen him almost constantly washing his hands to keep them free from dirt and germs.

So, if you’re unfortunate enough to suffer from a fear of germs, what can you do to overcome your fear?

Well, believe it or no, the fact that you’ve recognized your phobia of germs is a good start.

It’s much easier to treat something you’re aware of than something you’re in denial about.

Rationalizing your fear probably won’t work. After all, most humans survive very well despite being surrounded the germs we can’t see. If you could accept this idea, you wouldn’t be reading this.

Instead, you need to work on your fear from the inside out.

Our subconscious mind carries out most things in our life, including fears. Your worry is designed to protect you but once it reaches the stage of a full blown phobia, the protection is overkill.
